One question decides it: what is the evening for?
Three destinations, three genuinely different products. Vietnam spans enough latitude that they do not share a season, which turns a date clash into a destination choice rather than a dead end.
Side by side
| Phu Quoc | Da Nang and Hoi An | Ha Long Bay | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Group ceiling | ~200 | ~300 | ~200 |
| Conference with breakouts | Limited | Yes, genuinely | No |
| Beach | Excellent | Good, narrower season | No |
| The evening | Beach gala, sunset over water | Ballroom or riverside in Hoi An | Deck at anchor, up to ~70 |
| Access | One airport, limited routing | Best in the network | Road from Hanoi, 2h30 |
| Best months | Nov – Mar | Feb – May | Oct – Nov |
| Months to avoid | Jul – Sep | Oct | Dec – Feb |
| Free time and variety | Limited | Good | None by design |
| Distinctiveness | High | Moderate | Highest |
The question that settles it
Da Nang
If the agenda needs parallel breakout streams and reliable bandwidth, this is the only one of the three that delivers it without compromise.
Ha Long Bay
At anchor there is nowhere else to be. Up to about 70 for a deck dinner; above that the evening moves ashore.
Phu Quoc
West-facing sunset and resorts that hold 150 without splitting the group across properties.
Da Nang
The only destination with the venue depth and the access to assemble a group that size without pain.
Ha Long Bay
No phone signal, a fixed horizon, and a conversation that does not happen in a meeting room.
Phu Quoc
Visa-free arrival for direct international flights, subject to current conditions which we verify per programme.
Season, which is where most plans break
| Month | Phu Quoc | Da Nang | Ha Long Bay |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jan – Mar | Peak | Shoulder, then peak from Feb | Low — cold, sea mist |
| Apr – Jun | Shoulder | Peak | Shoulder to peak |
| Jul – Aug | Low — wet season | Peak, very hot | Peak, typhoon risk |
| Sep | Low | Low — rain begins | Shoulder |
| Oct | Improving | Low — flooding risk | PEAK — best of the year |
| Nov | Peak begins | Low to shoulder | PEAK |
| Dec | Peak | Shoulder — cool, grey | Low |
October and November: Ha Long Bay is at its best while Da Nang is at its worst. If your dates are fixed in early November, the answer is not that Vietnam does not work — it is that you should be looking north. This is the single most useful thing on this page.
Questions clients ask most
Can we combine two destinations?
Yes. Da Nang with Ha Long Bay is the strongest pairing — working content in Da Nang, the incentive evening on the bay. Budget an internal flight and half a day of movement. Phu Quoc pairs less naturally because the routing is longer.
What about Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City?
We handle arrivals, transfers and a city dinner in both as part of a programme running elsewhere. We do not present ourselves as a full operator in a city where we hold no contracted DMC — if your programme is genuinely Hanoi-based, another supplier will serve you better and we will say so.
Which is best value?
Da Nang, generally, because supply depth keeps prices honest. Ha Long Bay is the most expensive per head at small group sizes because vessel capacity is the constraint. See prices.
We have not decided. What do you need to advise?
Headcount, month, whether there is real working content, and what the evening is for. Those four answers usually settle it within one exchange, and the feasibility reply is free.
